Have you recently purchased your digital water tester but have some questions or need some support to get it working? Here are some common questions and answers.
When I remove the device from the water the reading goes away?
Once you have turned on your device and removed the safety cap then you need to press the “down” button to get to your required test. Place the probe into the water and wait 20 seconds and then press the “hold” button while the probe is still in the water. This will keep the reading static and then you can remove from the water to record the reading. Press the “hold” again to release the hold.
What is ORP? What range is good?
ORP stands for oxidisation reduction potential and the ability of chlorine to sanitise the water. It is measured in mV (microvolts). You are looking to keep in a range of 400-700mV for sanitised pool water.
The device does not have a chlorine test. What test do I use?
The ORP test is used in replacement of the chlorine test. This is a test of sanitisation and represents how effective the chlorine is working.
What is TDS and EC?
TDS is total dissolved solids and is a measure of the total amount of dissolved materials in the water. This includes chemicals, alkalinity, dust dirt, etc. EC is electrical conductivity and this is the water ability to conduct electrical current, directly linked to the pool's total dissolved solids (TDS) and salinity levels. Maintaining the right EC levels is vital for swimmer comfort and e quipment longevity.
The reading oscillates all over the place so is this normal?
When the probe has been put into the water the reading will bounce around a bit as the probes test the water. It's best to hold the probe in the water for 20 seconds and then press the hold button to get a static reading.
How often do I need to calibrate for pH?
Its best to calibrate for pH at least every 6 months.
Where can I get the calibration sachets?
The sachet pack for calibration will be available online at our website. They will be available online from late May onwards.
Does the device test for alkalinity and hardness?
The digital water tester does not have tests for alkalinity and hardness. To test these items then the Pool Set test strips or Pool Set liquid test kit can be used.
Do you have an app I can download?
There is no app to download but there is a water tester page on the Pool Set website.
Where do I enter my test results for a report?
